Recycling in schools
Recycling in schools has never been more popular as teachers and local authorities look to educate children as young as possible about the environment and the potential to recycle a significant amount of our waste. Recycling program such as the eco-schools programme, which we covered in one of the earlier post, have been highly successful and offered the opportunity for children to experience recycling in schools with many taking these ideas and recycling various items at home.
It is essential that the children of today are educated about the harm we have done to the environment, recycling issues and how they can help by recycling simple materials and waste at school. Recycling bins for plastic and cardboard are now commonplace across the schools system in the UK and teachers and parents are actively encouraged to become more involved.
By giving children a pride in their environment and a grasp of simple recycling techniques, program such as the eco-schools project have expanded around the world to include over 40,000 schools from more than 40 different countries.
