Recycle plastic bottles as wasp collectors
One of the more bizarre uses for plastic bottles is to recycle them as wasp collectors and use them to attract and trap troublesome wasps in the summertime. Simply take a large sized plastic juice bottle, the 1 litre plus variety, and cut off the top just below the area where the cone shape of the bottle top starts.
Then simply invert the cone shape, making sure you remove the bottle top, and place it back onto the bottle, ensuring the cone shaped is pointing downwards into the bottle. Make two small holes either side of the bottle top and tie string so that the inverted corn and the bottle base are tied together. Then simply hang the plastic bottle near your refuse collection area after filling the bottle one quarter full with fizzy juice - which is high in sugar content.
You will be amazed to find that the wasp trap works by attracting the wasps to the bottle top by the smell of sugar from the liquid, but when they are in the base of the bottle they are unable to escape because of the inverted cone shape and eventually die.
