Mattress recycling hits London
HTL Recycling and Waste Management Services have introduced a new service to London with the hope of “saving” up to 1000 mattresses a day from being sent to landfill. As anybody who has recently changed their mattress will know, they can be very difficult to dispose of and ultimately have is a lot of potential for recycling which is not yet being fulfilled.
HTL Recycling and Waste Management Services is hoping to recycle up to 97% of the metal, cotton and other fabrics used in the traditional mattress and memory foam mattresses which will obviously save massive space in landfill sites and reduce energy use by recycling as much as possible. The UK government and local authorities are firmly behind any such recycling plans which reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and ultimately allow more and more products and elements to be recycled on a regular basis.
If this particular scheme is successful, and there is no reason why it should not be, it is likely to be replicated up and down the country for the benefit of the environment and consumers alike. It seems that where there is waste there is potential for business as we are seeing with the ever expanding UK recycling industry!
