Recycling wool clothing
While woollen garments may not be as popular as they once were there are still literally hundreds of thousands of woollen jumpers, cardigans and other clothing thrown out each and every year. The vast majority of these are not recycled therefore the never-ending need for yet more wool can and does have a significant impact on the environment.
When you consider how many sheep need to be fed, watered and cared for not to mention the energy used, cost of shearing sheep and selling their wool, the cost just goes higher and higher. However, it is possible to recycle and reuse the wool from any woollen garment and use this to create more clothing which can be sold or given away. Alternatively, more and more people are now looking to recycle and pass their surplus clothing to various charities around the UK.
So whether you’re looking to recycle the actual wool from your garment of recycle the garment itself by donating to charity, both have a positive effect and a positive impact on the environment, the energy we use and ultimately the cost of producing such garments.
