Tube recycling is a legal obligation

By Recycle Man

There have been many recycling regulations introduced over the last few years and one which has had an impact on the market is the classification of spent fluorescent light tubes, sodium lamps, gas discharge lamps, PCs screens and TV screens as hazardous waste. This is due to a mixture of UK government and EU regulations hitting the market as a means of protecting landfill sites and the environment from these potentially harmful gas compounds. So what are the options available?

There are more and more collection and recycling services springing up around the UK that will collect and recycle your spent TV tubes, gas discharge lamps, etc and ensure that all of the paperwork is in place. It is vital that you make use of these particular services, especially where there is no option to have your old product collected as your new one is delivered. There is no doubt that due to the hazardous nature of some of these chemicals we will see more and more recycling regulations enter the market and more people fined not recycling hazardous materials in the correct manner.

Many people believe that the recent crop of recycling regulations from the EU is literally just the tip of the iceberg and we will see more and more hit the market in weeks, months and years to come.
